Michelle Donaldson, Lakelee Human Resources & Controller ServicesHello! My name is Michelle Donaldson. I’m a Human Resources Consultant and the co-owner of Lakelee Human Resources and Controller Services. I offer a Virtual HR Department for small to medium sized businesses that may not require full-time HR leadership or perhaps can’t afford it just yet. As a Generalist, I have experience in all areas of human resources. I have worked 12 years in the field and I love it. I get to work with different people, in different lines of work and having the opportunity to help them structure processes and practices to help efficiencies and understanding, is something I take great pride in. 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, and HR Professionals have certainly been feeling the pressure to get custom policies together, ensure people have what they need to be successful while working offsite and somehow keep everyone feeling connected to their team. Mental health of our team members, our families and ourselves has come to the forefront as well. Whether the anxiety of the pandemic itself, the isolation working from home, or having to manage work life and home life at the same time, it’s all been too much for many of us. This translates into time off work because people are ill, low-productivity because it’s difficult, if not almost impossible, to focus with everything going on around us and overall low motivation. Where some have thrived working from home, the studies are confirming what we we’ve always known. We are social creatures, that need social interaction and without water cooler chats and quick check-ins about our weekends, we’re left with just the work. It’s what we are trained to do, but without the easy access of our co-workers to run ideas by, have a laugh here and there throughout the day, we are less productive and less happy in our work. I am thrilled to be part of the panel on January 12th, 2021 to discuss Mental Health in the Workplace and identify how important it is to ensure our co-workers and team members are ok. |
