Quite simply, humans are addicted to plastic, this nearly indestructible material. We are producing over 380 million tons of plastic every year, and close to 50% of that is for single-use purposes. This plastic is utilized for just a few moments, but remains on the planet for several hundred years before decomposing.
Bill 82, the Single-Use Plastics Ban Act, 2019, is intended to stop the use of certain single-use plastics in Ontario. The bill amends the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 by requiring the Minister to amend the strategy of the Act to include a plan that identifies, targets, and creates timelines for the immediate reduction and eventually elimination of certain single-use plastic.
Our expert will speak to the impact of Bill 82 on business operations and standard practices, outlining key information on managing waste.
